These were the most popular fast food restaurant chains in America in 2024, according to data collected by QSR, ranked by national sales. See which chains came out on top.

Papa John's

It's hard to believe that Papa John's pizza chain started out of a closet! "Papa" John Schnatter decided to sell pizza to the customers of his father's tavern in Jefferson, Indiana. He converted one of the closets in the tavern into a pizza kitchen and sold his '71 Camaro to afford the equipment.

That was in 1984 – today, the pizza chain has over 3,200 locations all across the country. Papa John's is also the creator of dipping sauce specifically for pizza crust.
